- Key materials to avoid are Polystyrene, PVC, virgin steel, and tropical hardwood.
- Discourage the use of polystyrene and polycarbonate.
- Reduce the use of harmful chemicals with high VOC’s
- Ensure plastics are reusable, recyclable or compostable.
- Avoid environmentally harmful detergents, like 1,4-Dioxane, Sodium Laureth Sulphate, Bleach and Formaldehyde.
What are VOC’s?
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are a group of carbon-based chemicalsthat can easily evaporate into the air, often released from paint and finishes, and can contribute to air pollution and health problems when present in high concentrations.
